MAYFAIR CIVIC ASSOCIATION, MAYFAIR BUSINESS ASSOCIATION AND THE MAYFAIR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION PRESENT THE 6TH ANNUAL MAYFAIR FALLEN HEROES RUN AND 7TH ANNUAL MAYFAIR MAY FAIR

The Mayfair Civic Association, Mayfair Business Association and Mayfair CDC, are proud to present the 6th Annual Mayfair Fallen Heroes Run and Seventh Annual Mayfair May Fair.

Mayfair officially kicks off summer 2014 with the 6th annual Mayfair Fallen Heroes Run on Saturday, May 17, 2014. Starting at 8:30am, the Mayfair Fallen Heroes Run has undergone a few changes to the race route this year. Chairman of the Mayfair CDC and Race Director Joe DeFelice says “This year we are honoring Fire Captain John Taylor. We’ve moved the run up to include a portion of Frankford Avenue, our main business thoroughfare along with some residential streets. It’s a bit of an uphill run along Frankford Avenue too, which makes it a little bit of a challenge and we’re hoping returning runners and new runners will enjoy the change of scenery from past years."  Fellow Run organizer and owner of Torresdale Flowers, Antoniette Montgomery states, "We’ll continue the run around the Pennypack Park loop but incorporating these different elements really gives you a taste of the neighborhood of Mayfair; busy business corridor, residential streets and then the very close natural setting of the park.  Also, there is also a new logo designed by Mayfair resident and graphic designer, Michael Ennis, which will be emblazed on the front of the t-shirts are, which are always a hot commodity.”  Lisa Greco, co-organizer and owner of BellaLisa Hair Studios, stated "We're really looking forward to having more runners participate so we can raise even more money for the Hero Thrill Show as well as showcase our neighborhood.”  For more information visit www.MayfairRun.com.

On that same day, Saturday May 17, 2014 starting at 12pm, is the Mayfair Business Association sponsored Mayfair May Fair. Organizers Donny Smith, president of the Mayfair Civic Association, Mike "Scoats" Scotese, president of the Mayfair Business Association and owner of the Grey Lodge Pub, Lisa Greco, MBA Treasurer and Mia Hylan, Mayfair CDC Executive Director have worked very hard on the set up.  Greco stated, "Last year we closed off the portion of the Avenue between Ryan and Bleigh which worked out really well. We had a huge stage with live music, artisans and crafters, a showcase of MBA members, face painting, balloon animals and local schools and organizations like Lincoln High School's Horticulture Department." Smith added, "The Original Soft Pretzel Factory also holds their Customer Appreciate Day with huge inflatable's, contests, and giveaways on the same day so it really is a great kid-friendly event, too." "It's great to have people walking the Avenue and seeing the great things the Mayfair Business community has to offer along with information booths and fun family activities." states Scoats, "It's growing every year as we add more and more. It's becoming a 'can't miss' event."  Hylan also noted the presence of a Mayfair Townwatch dunk tank and the 15th PDAC Community Day set up as well as much, much more.

Lastly, on Sunday May 18 don’t forget to revisit Cottman and Frankford Aves between 10am and 2pm for our weekly Mayfair Farmers Market.  For more information visit www.mayfairfarmersmarket.com.
