Re: 2014 Mayfair Award
Dear Mr. Smyth:
Please accept this letter on behalf of the Mayfair Civic Association as notification that your organization has been voted as this year’s co-winner of our Annual Mayfair Award along with the Lansing Knights; past recipients include Reese Hartey, past Chairman of the Mayfair Community Development Corporation, Monsignor Charles McGroarty, Pastor of St. Matthew Parish and John Leong, unofficial neighborhood photographer.  The award is given each year to a neighborhood resident or organization that has made a significant impact on our community and has done their part in making Mayfair a better place to live.  Your organization, of which I have been a part of as a player and more recently with my son through your STARS program, is the type of organization from which communities build.  This is in no small part to your commitment, Mr. Smyth, as well as the commitment of your entire Board.

People in our community spend entirely too much time dwelling on the negatives and not nearly enough time embracing the positives, of which your organization plays a huge role.  Many of us realize how lucky we are to have your organization be a part of the Mayfair Community. Therefore, on May 17, 2014 at 12PM at Cottman and Frankford Aves., during our Annual Mayfair May Fair, we would like to honor your organization as a co-recipient of the Fourth Annual Mayfair Award.  Again, congratulations and please contact me with any questions.

                                                                        Sincerely,
                                                                                    Joe De Felice sig

MAYFAIR MEMORIAL PLAYGROUND EASTER EGG HUNT
Sat. May 12, 2014 11am-1pm at Vista and Rowland

Mayfair Memorial Playground Easter Egg Hunt
On Saturday, April 12 from 11am to 1pm (Rain Date Sunday, 04/13/14 from 1pm to 3pm) , the Friends of Mayfair Memorial Playground will hold their 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Egg Hunt includes a fantastic Bake Sale, games, prizes, an appearance by the Easter Bunny and much, much more. "We're trying to mix things up a little more this year and include some activities we haven't had in the past to keep it fresh. More details will be announced once we finalize everything. We're so close to our goal of completing the playground and not only is this is one of our major fundraisers, it's a great family friendly, community event." says Chairwoman Dana Lambie.

"With last year's installation of a 7-foot locking fence by Northeast Fence and Iron Works and our new adult exercise equipment courtesy of a grant via KaBOOM! we are really motivated to get the last piece of toddler equipment and the safety surfacing in." Vice-Chairwoman Mia Hylan states. "In addition to the Easter Egg Hunt, we'll be participating in the Philly Spring Clean-up on Saturday, April 5, 2014 and we're also hoping to hold a couple of demonstrations in the spring and early summer with a local personal trainer for anyone interested in learning how to best utilize the equipment while their children are playing. You can visit our Facebook page at "Rebuild Mayfair Memorial Playground (At Lincoln High School" for all the latest information. There's always great stuff going on at the playground!"
