Dear Ms. Konrad:
Please accept this letter on behalf of the Mayfair Civic Association and Mayfair Business Association as a thank you to you and your family for the sacrifice you have given to make our City safe and as an official invitation to the 4th Annual Mayfair Fallen Heroes Run.  The Mayfair Fallen Heroes Run is an event that we founded four (4) years ago to honor the men and women of Police and Fire that have died in the line of duty protecting our communities; our first honoree was Officer Gary Skersi, our second honoree was Firefighter John Redmond and our third honoree was Sgt. Patrick McDonald.  This year our Board has chosen to honor your husband, Firefighter Joseph Konrad, for his service and ultimate sacrifice.  On a personal note,

When the subject came up as to who our Organizations would honor this year, Joe’s name was mentioned immediately; many of our members know your children and family from school and around the neighborhood and figured your husband would be an ideal fit for this year’s award.  The funds raised from this event will go to the Hero Thrill Show, which benefits the Children of Police and Fire killed or injured in the line of duty and to a Hero Plaque honoring your husband with residual going to help further rebuild the Mayfair Memorial Playground which was laid in memory of those that served our community.

The run is a 5K run around the perimeter of Lincoln High School and through Pennypack Park and is sponsored by FOP Lodge 5 and Firefighters Union Local 22 and close to One Hundred (100) community businesses.  The event, expecting to host close to Five Hundred (500) runners, begins at 7:30AM with registration and run start at 8:30AM.  Following the race, awards will be given out followed by a short memorial which will include a plaque dedication in your husband’s honor.  Please accept this as our official invitation to attend the run and accept this award.  Nevertheless, we realize that this type of event may revive bad memories for you and understand if you are unable to attend.  In closing, please realize that we all appreciate your sacrifice and hope we honor your husband well.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at the number below.
                                                                                                Very Truly Yours,
